The Shishito pepper is a mild, Japanese variety that has been gaining more attention and popularity. It is used as a flavouring pepper in many meals or blistered and eaten whole as a delicious side dish. It is deliciously sweet and mild with very little heat, however one out of every 10 Shishito peppers are really hot! This creates some great dinner time fun while serving them as whole pods.

The pods begin green and mature into a dark red with fully matured. They are traditionally harvested and eaten when green, but can also be enjoyed when fully matured and red.

Flavour: Sweet, peppery and slightly citrusy. When cooked, they develop a hint of smokiness. A popular way to eat them is to either blister them over an open fire with some oil, or grill on the BBQ over the flame for a few minutes, add a sprinkle of salt and serve with your favourite aioli or tahini based sauce. Or once blistered/grilled, chop them up and add to your burger, tacos, pasta dish or stew. Or stuff them with rice and cheese. The possibilities are endless!

Heat Level (SHU): 50-200 Scoville Heat Units (Sweet and very mild). Much less heat than a Jalapeno. Except for1 out of 10 that is really hot!)

Quantity: 38 seeds

Australian grown.
