Averaging 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), with individual pods recorded above 2.2 million SHU. The Carolina Reaper holds a Guinness World Record for the world's hottest chilli — a title it earned in 2017, surpassing the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion. Approximately 300 times hotter than a jalapeño. Always handle with gloves — this chilli is extremely oily and the heat is intense and long-lasting.

Flavour & Details

Fruity and sweet on the nose, followed immediately by scorching, building heat. The Reaper's flavour profile makes it a favourite in hot sauces — it delivers both fire and complexity, not just heat. Wrinkled, bumpy skin with a distinctive scorpion-like tail. Some pods have a smoother surface. Created by crossing a Pakistani Naga with a Red Habanero from St Vincent's Island in the Caribbean.
